Icons and badges: what do they mean?

A quick guide to generation symbols, Verified badges, presence and New labels on profiles.

The icons at a glance
  • Generation Z
  • Millennial
  • Generation X
  • Baby boomer
  • Verified profile
  • Phone number verified
  • PLUS
  • Online
  • Date
  • Now
  • New

Generation icons beside a name

  • Sparkles — Gen Z.
  • Phone — Millennial (Generation Y).
  • Radio — Generation X.
  • Record — Baby boomer.

These symbols describe the member’s generation based on their birth details. They can appear beside an exact age or on their own, depending on age-display settings. The examples here show the shapes; their colour and drawing can vary between screens.

Verification and membership

  • Seal with a checkmark — Verified: the profile has passed Freelove’s profile-verification process. It is separate from age, generation and phone verification, and does not guarantee someone’s behaviour.
  • Phone with a checkmark — Phone number verified: the member has verified control of a phone number. This alone is not profile verification.
  • PLUS — a displayed PLUS membership badge, not a verification badge.

Presence and new members

  • Green dot — Online presence.
  • Pink dot — Date: open to planning a date.
  • Flame — Now: would like to meet now.
  • New / NEW label — a new member; unrelated to the generation icon.

Presence is not a promise of an immediate reply. Having the app installed or staying signed in does not by itself mean someone is online.
